GoHighLevel A2P Rejected? The Rejection Screen Finally Tells You What to Fix
HighLevel rewrote its A2P campaign rejection guidance so it's specific to how you registered, and added live registration status for every number. Here's how to read both, when resubmitting is a waste of time, and how to stop texting from a number that isn't ready.
Disclosure: I earn a commission if you sign up for GoHighLevel through links on this page. How that works is in the editorial policy.
A2P rejections are so vague — so vague — that plenty of people resubmit the same campaign more than once, change one word each time, and wait days for each verdict. If your GoHighLevel A2P campaign was rejected, there’s good news: HighLevel just changed the one screen that tells you what’s actually wrong, and added a second screen that tells you when a number is genuinely ready to text.
Here’s how to read both, based on HighLevel’s help docs and changelog. Quick note first: this is a walkthrough of HighLevel’s own guidance, not legal or compliance advice.
The rejection screen used to be a riddle
The “View required fixes” modal itself isn’t new — HighLevel’s earlier changelog entry introduced it, with an error code, rejection category, what the rejection means and the correction needed. The problem was what went in it. Per HighLevel’s own rejection guidance update, the modal used to show generic carrier guidance — and Chat Widget users were being asked to fix fields or consent wording they never wrote.
Picture that from the business owner’s side. You used the widget because it was the easy path. Your campaign gets rejected. The fix tells you to rewrite consent language you can’t even see, let alone edit. So you guess, resubmit, and wait.
The update changes that. Each reason now explains what happened in plain language, then lists specific actions — and those actions depend on how you registered.
To find it, HighLevel’s help article (modified Oct 16, 2026) gives the path: Settings → Phone System → Trust Center, open Brands & Campaigns, select the Campaigns tab, find the campaign with a Rejected status, and click “View required fixes →” beside each rejection reason.
Your fix depends on how you registered
This is the heart of the update, and the thing you need to check first: was this campaign registered through the Chat Widget (Quick Setup) or through Manual Setup?
Chat Widget. The help article says fixes focus on your website, any other SMS opt-in forms on it, and your policy links — “without requiring changes to consent wording or form fields automatically generated by HighLevel.” Translation: if you’re on the widget path, the problem is somewhere else on your site. In my experience fixing A2P 10DLC rejections, that’s usually where it hides anyway — a second contact form with no SMS consent, a privacy policy that’s missing a line, a broken link.
Manual Setup. Fixes address the opt-in methods and consent information you submitted yourself, and the modal may also flag issues that require changes to your brand registration. You wrote it, so you fix it.
The help article lists the common categories with example error codes. A few worth knowing by sight:
- Opt-in and consent — for error 30925, add an unchecked-by-default checkbox specifically for SMS consent.
- Website — for error 30921, where a login blocks reviewers, publish a public page describing your business and messaging program.
- Privacy policy — for error 30932, state that mobile information won’t be shared with third parties for marketing purposes. Error 30908 covers a privacy policy missing from your website or message flow — make it accessible and link it directly in the Message Flow.
- Business identity — for error 30926, campaigns that reference multiple brands need a separate campaign per brand.
- Duplicate content — for error 30911, each field (description, sample messages, message flow) needs unique content, and each sample message should be distinct.
Where carriers require exact wording, such as privacy policy verification, the update says the steps include the required statement. Copy it exactly. This is not the moment for creative writing.
When resubmitting is a waste of a week
You’d think the move after a rejection is always “fix and resubmit.” It isn’t.
The help article is blunt on three points. First: fix all listed rejection reasons before resubmitting — a campaign can have more than one, and fixing one of three just buys you another rejection. Second: the campaign use case and opt-in message may not be editable during resubmission, so if either needs to change, you may need a new campaign instead. Third: for ineligible content categories (SHAFT, disallowed or high-risk), don’t resubmit the same campaign at all.
The changelog adds that for some reasons — a business type mismatch, for example — the modal now tells you what has to change before resubmitting will help. That’s the line to look for. If you see it, stop and fix the underlying registration. Clicking resubmit again just restarts the wait.
And on cost: the help article notes that campaign vetting may include verification or review fees. Those are set by The Campaign Registry, Twilio and carriers, and HighLevel’s A2P 10DLC fees article says they’re passed through with no markup. I’m not going to restate the amounts here, because they change — the GoHighLevel pricing breakdown covers how they fit into the overall bill, and the true cost calculator lets you put your own messaging volume next to the subscription.
”Pending” is not “broken,” and “Registered” is the only green light
The second release is smaller but probably saves more headaches. Per HighLevel’s real-time number registration changelog, each number linked to an A2P campaign now shows a live status: Pending, Registered or Failed. Fully registered numbers get an “A2P Verified” tag on the phone numbers page. Existing numbers were updated automatically.
Before this, you could only see that a number had been submitted. And here’s why that mattered: per the same entry, messages sent before registration finished failed with error 30034 — number not registered for A2P. Your campaign said approved, your workflow fired, and the texts quietly failed.
How long does Pending last? HighLevel says registration “usually completes within 24 hours,” but timing depends on the carrier, and carrier registration can take anywhere from a few minutes to several days. So Pending for a day is normal. Failed is the one that needs action.
Don’t let a workflow text from a Pending number
This is where the two releases meet your actual automations.
Picture a med spa launching a new location on Monday. New number, new campaign, approved Friday. The appointment reminder workflow goes live Monday morning. The number is still Pending. Every reminder sent before it flips to Registered fails — and the first sign anyone notices is a no-show who swears they never got a text.
The fix is boring and reliable:
- Check the number’s status before you publish any workflow that texts from it. Registered, with the A2P Verified tag, or it doesn’t go live.
- Keep the email step in. If you lean on SMS alone for reminders, a Pending number leaves you with nothing. The case for pairing channels is in email vs SMS vs multichannel, and the reminder setup itself is in calendar bookings that actually show up.
- For new client launches, put “number shows Registered” on the go-live checklist, right next to “test the booking form.” It takes thirty seconds to check and saves a very awkward Monday.
If SMS is still stuck and the business also talks to customers internationally, the WhatsApp setup guide is a parallel channel worth knowing about. And if you’re mapping out how all of this fits together, the multi-channel communications pillar is the bigger picture.
The pre-submit checklist, straight from the rejection categories
Prevention beats a better rejection screen. Before you submit a campaign — or resubmit one — walk your site through the help article’s own categories:
- Website. Public, working, with real business information. No login wall in front of what reviewers need to see.
- Every opt-in form. Not just the widget. Any form that collects a phone number needs SMS consent, with an unchecked-by-default checkbox for SMS.
- Privacy policy. Findable, accessible, and including the statement about not sharing mobile information with third parties for marketing.
- Policy links. Click every one. Broken links count.
- One brand per campaign. If you run two brands, register two campaigns.
It’s not glamorous. Neither is waiting for a second rejection.
FAQ
Where do I see why my A2P campaign was rejected in GoHighLevel?
Per HighLevel’s help article, go to Settings → Phone System → Trust Center, open Brands & Campaigns, select the Campaigns tab, find the campaign marked Rejected, and click “View required fixes →” beside each rejection reason. The modal shows the error code, rejection category, what it means and the correction needed.
Why are the A2P fixes different for Chat Widget and Manual Setup?
Because the fix lives in a different place. HighLevel says Chat Widget (Quick Setup) fixes focus on your website, any other SMS opt-in forms and your policy links, not the consent wording the widget generates. Manual Setup fixes address the opt-in methods and consent information you submitted, and may involve brand registration changes.
Should I resubmit a rejected A2P campaign straight away?
Not until every listed reason is fixed. HighLevel’s help article says to fix all rejection reasons before resubmitting, notes that use case and opt-in message may not be editable on resubmission, and says some reasons, such as ineligible content categories, mean you shouldn’t resubmit the same campaign at all.
What does error 30034 mean in GoHighLevel?
According to HighLevel’s changelog, messages sent from a number before its A2P carrier registration finished failed with error 30034 (number not registered for A2P). Numbers now show a live status of Pending, Registered or Failed, so you can wait for Registered before sending.
How long does A2P number registration take in GoHighLevel?
HighLevel says it usually completes within 24 hours, but timing depends on the carrier, and carrier registration can take anywhere from a few minutes to several days. Pending is expected during that window. Fully registered numbers show an A2P Verified tag on the phone numbers page.
What to do this week
Open the Trust Center. If any campaign shows Rejected, check its registration method, open every “View required fixes” reason, and fix all of them before touching resubmit. Then open your phone numbers page and look for the A2P Verified tag on every number a workflow texts from. Anything Pending stays out of your core automations until it flips.
The rejection screen used to be a riddle. Now it mostly gives you the answer. The only way to waste another week is to resubmit before you’ve read it.
